THE SYSTEMS MAP / THINKING
Before asking “how,”
ask “then what?”
Technology decisions travel. They change the work, the risks, and the responsibilities of people far beyond the team that makes them.
Second Order Strategy is an invitation to follow those connections. These are three lenses that shape my approach to delivery and governance.
01 / PURPOSE → ACCOUNTABILITY
Start with the decision.
Define the problem, the outcome that matters, and who has the authority to proceed. A useful operating model connects the people making decisions with the people accountable for their consequences.
02 / RISK → EVIDENCE
Make confidence inspectable.
Policies need practical processes behind them. Identify the evidence a decision requires, who maintains it, and when changing conditions should trigger another review.
03 / DECISIONS → CONSEQUENCES
Look beyond the first result.
A faster workflow can create a new dependency. A new capability can move risk to another team. Ask what changes after the immediate benefit—and build ownership and oversight into that next step.
